Boosting Tourist Arrivals: The Sumatera International Travel Fair 2007 Does Well
The Sumatera International Travel Fair is an annual IMT-GT event that brings together tourism and travel operators from regional countries with the goal of stimulating networking and industry cooperation. Its main objectives are to encourage intra-ASEAN travel and to conserve and promote the image of Sumatera, and the IMT-GT in general, as a leading destination for ‘Tropical Adventure and Multicultural Heritage’. The Sumatera International Travel Fair 2007 was held from 8 th – 10 th June 2007 at the Tiara Convention Hall in Medan. The attractions include an exhibition, featuring at least 66 booths occupied by tourism related players such as tour operators, airlines, travel agents, tourism boards, and cruise ship & ferry operators. A series of other activities were also held in addition to the exhibition, including a Destination Promotion, Sales Promotion, Business Contact & Networking, Tourism Forum, MITTA Gathering, as well as food and cultural performances from the varied provinces of Sumatera. The Sumatera International Travel Fair 2007 was supported by the Indonesian Government, Tourism Malaysia, Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Singapore Tourism Board.
